I had a dream about an purring, orange & white cat sitting in my lap this morning while an invisible creature with glowing eyes watched from the doorway. Wait. It wasn't a dream, but a memory. Tattersol (?) the feline resident of sunflowerriver graced me with a furry presence while I was visiting; and black kitty approached and scooted away. Made me remember ( Read more... )

I had a dream early this morning where Tigger the Wonderful Thing jumped up into my arms, patted my cheek with her paw, and then I snuggled my face into her fur. I woke up with my arms empty. I guess she was checking up on me with a visit.

Tigger the Wonderful Thing came home today. In the spring, I will release her into the garden.

Today, I received cards, flowers and fruit from friends near and far expressing sympathy and empathy for Tig's passing beyond this world. The tears flowed; yes, from sorrow and grief; but now tinged with comfort and a budding awareness of happiness. I watch the snow fall and turn a card:
( the stars lie to you )

... and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings
and touched the face of God.

Tonight at 7:03 pm, Tigger the Wonderful Thing experienced a stroke. She passed quietly and quickly at the vet's office an hour later.

Tig is now in hospice care with end stage renal disease. Her kidneys have ceased to function. She was doing well this past week, but today she had blood in her urine. The Vet is doing some lab work. She is home and comfortable.

Edit (11:03 pm): While I was holding her today, I told her it was okay to leave; not to hang around just because of me.

What is essential is invisible to the eye.
